LOCAL IRELAND MEDIA AWARDS RULES 2026

  • The competition is open only to paid-for local newspapers who publish a minimum of once a week 
  • Entry is free but there will be an attendance fee for non-members wishing to attend the awards’ evening dinner.
  • Entries for all nomination categories must have first appeared in the relevant local newspaper’s print or online editions or social media channels between 1st January and 31st December 2025.
  • The closing date for entries is Friday June 30th 2026 at 5pm.
  • All pdf/Jpeg entries must be received online at the following link https://localireland.info/award-entry-form-2026 . 
  • A maximum of three sample submissions per entry per journalist/title are permitted for each category. Titles can enter more than one journalist/photographer for the individual categories eg Best News story, Best Photograph etc
  • Entries will be judged by an independent panel of judges appointed by Local Ireland.
  • The judges’ decisions will be final and the judges will not enter into debate on their selections.
